Eating disruptors shape consumer behaviors, preferences and purchasing decisions around the food we consume—and they are in the forefront of the food manufacturing conversation. GLP-1s and GLP-1 eating: navigating change and driving growth
GLP-1 medications are changing the way consumers eat and approach nutritional decisions. As of April 2025, 7.2% or nearly 19M adults are using GLP-1s, and 32% of those surveyed by Ardent Mills say they would consider taking GLP-1s in the future.1 And while anti-obesity medication usage is growing, so is GLP-1 eating, where consumers who don't take the medication are now prioritizing GLP-1 similar ingredients and healthful choices. In fact, 73% of consumers made a recent change to their eating behavior in favor of wellness.1 The following food characteristics* are prioritized by consumers on GLP-1s:1
